Grace Dent could end up facing an awkward conversation in the jungle over comments she made about her I’m A Celebrity campmate Nick Pickard years ago.

The pair are now getting to know each other and their other fellow campers on the ITV reality show, and all seems to be going well so far. But it seems that the MasterChef star had some rather harsh words about the Hollyoaks actor a few years back.

Writing in The Guardian in 2011, Grace seemed to take a swipe at Nick – aka Hollyoaks’ Tony Hutchinson - as she discussed the line-up for that year’s series of Celebrity MasterChef. The star seemed to take issue with the fact that the cooking programme's Gregg Wallace said the celebs taking part were at the top of their game.

She sniped: “If the ‘game’ Gregg claims these people are at the top of is the ‘800 metres afternoon shopping meander around Lidl due to a largely blank work diary’ game then he is bang on the money. Cooking doesn't get any more hanging-about-praying-for-panto-season than this.”

The restaurant critic also noted that the show had “fallen” to a 2.15pm weekday slot. And she suggested that Nick's inclusion in the line-up could be a part of that.

“Perhaps the BBC sensed that the sight of Tony from Hollyoaks clumsily gutting a sole, splashing guts, brains and skin about, then frying the salvageable detritus was not top drawer telly,” she said. The star also suggested that she wasn't that interested in tuning in.

Grace, 50, said she would “choose to watch people badly gutting, scaling and debraining animals on TV” as much as she would “gleefully jump out of a car on to the hard shoulder”.

However, 12 years later and the pair are now campmates on I’m A Celebrity. They moved into the Aussie camp at the weekend alongside the likes of Britney Spears’ little sister Jamie Lynn, This Morning ’s Josie Gibson and First Dates star Fred Sirieix.

Former UKIP leader Nigel Farage is also among the contestants, and has already had to face a gruelling eating trial.
