Dancing on Ice star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has begged ITV bosses to “let a woman win one year” as the star-studded contestants prepare for the new series.

Loyal fans of the former Love Island star will recall how she competed on the skating competition last year. The brunette beauty pushed herself to the limit on the reality show as she learnt to ice skate with her professional partner, Brendyn Hatfield.

But the TV star struggled to wow the judges with her new skills on the show. After three impressive weeks on the show, Ekin-Su became the third person to be eliminated from the competition.

Nearly one year on, the Turkish actress has hit out at ITV bosses as the latest batch of star-studded contestants prepare for the upcoming series in the new year. Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, she shared her frustration that a woman hadn’t won the show in more than 10 years.

She told us at the launch event of BPerfect cosmetic's Instant Matte Tanning Mouse: “The thing is with Dancing on Ice, and I'm going to say this right now: Please let a girl win it. Every year there’s a guy winning it and it’s been 10 years since Beth Tweddle won it.

“Can you believe that? 10 years since a girl's won Dancing on Ice and I blame, well I'm not going to say who, but it’s not fair.” The last woman to take home the sparkling trophy was the Olympic gymnast and her pro skater Daniel Whiston.

Fans of the ITV show will remember how Ekin-Su was left in tears after she was booted from the competition. The reality star was forced to skate off against Patsy Palmer and Matt Evers.

The TV personality certainly gave it her all in her final routine while fighting an injury, with muscle tape clearly visible on her legs. But despite her best efforts, she failed to secure her place in the show.

Talking through tears, the actor gushed: "We put so much time in, and all the other work commitments I had at the time... this was my priority and I really gave everything to it. I love it, I fell in love with the ice," she added.

Since then, the actress has come on leaps and bounds, and has even put her skates to good use. Back in June, the TV star put her famous skates on the market to raise money for charity during the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey this summer.

The starlet visited the country in March just weeks after the earthquake killed over 59,000 people. Speaking on Good Morning Britain at the time she revealed how the funds would be going to the British Red Cross to help those in need overseas.

She told viewers: "Why not donate my ice skating shoes to the British Red Cross and raise some money. Instead of them sitting in my loft and getting cobwebs, I thought why not better sell them and make some money."
