Emmerdale’s Alan McKenna has been causing plenty of drama in the village playing Gus Malcolms - but it’s not his first time appearing on a much-loved soap.
As the ex-husband of Rhona Goskirk, Gus rocked up to the famous village earlier this year in April. He asked ex missus if he could use one of their frozen embryos with his new partner Lucy (Charlotte Asprey).
Lucy was struggling to conceive following cancer treatment, and despite giving the couple the green light to use her embryos, Rhona devastated them by retracting her offer. But things have since taken a sinister turn.

During an appointment at the hospital recently, Marlon bumped into a heavily pregnant Lucy. Confused, Marlon questioned whether Rhona had changed her mind about giving Gus and Lucy the embryos, but she revealed they used Rhona's stolen passport to use her embryos.
However Alan’s stint on Emmerdale isn’t his first time on the screen and even in a much-loved soap. Before joining the cast, he appeared in not one, but two rival shows.
Between 2006 and 2007, he portrayed Tony Andrew for eight episodes. But he had a more memorable role in Corrie.
Over on the cobbles, Alan played notorious drug lord, Ronan Truman. He was the father of Cormac Truman - who died from an overdose in Ryan Connor’s flat in 2018.
Ronan blamed Ryan for his son’s death and was hellbent on revenge. He ended up running over Ryan, nearly killing the character.
But Ronan was ultimately killed when he crashed his car into a post - which was purposely removed by Ryan’s brother Ali. After the fall out, Ali convinced everyone that Ronan had died pulling out before he could stop him.

Another role Alan might be known for is Patrick McGuire in BBC's Doctors. He had a recurring role on the Birmingham-based soap from 2001 to 2003 and again in September 2010.
He’s also shown off his acting chops in a variety of TV shows, including Happy Valley, Doc Martin, Waterloo Road and Save. Alan also had roles in the movies Blessed with Heather Graham and Second in Command alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
