ITV Good Morning Britain viewers have slammed presenters Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins for making poorly timed faux pas to a guest.

Ben and Charlotte were hosting the ITV morning news programme on Friday (November 3) when they had the guest on the show. The guest was a young fundraiser by the name of Luke, who had all four of his limbs amputated.

Luke, who suffered from meningitis, has been aiming to raise vital funds to help other children who have gone through similar issues like him by setting himself a huge challenge. A Yorkshire native, he is aiming to climb a 650-feet peak near on Saturday (November 4), with all money being raised going to charity.

Joining the show via live link, Luke was beaming with personality as he and his father explained why he was taking on Embsay Crag. When asked about how he was feeling ahead of the challenge, he said it would be "pretty tough".

"My only hope is that it is doesn't tip it down," Luke quipped in a deadpan manner. Ben and Charlotte were left biting their tongue as they tried to contain their laughter.

Later on in the interview, GMB producers had a special surprise for the young teen. Ben and Charlotte gave Luke a small video message from adventurer Steve Backshall, who gave his best wishes to Luke and wished him the best of luck ahead of the climb.

But following the clip, Charlotte made a fatal error in judgment on her words, as she asked Luke: "What do you make of that video from Steve, Luke? Does it put a spring in your step?"

Luke did not take the faux pas to heart, instead saying: "Yeah, I mean I met him yesterday - but I wasn't expecting a full on video!". Presenters Charlotte and Ben burst out laughing over the chaos of the interview.

Ben paid tribute to Luke, who is undertaking the feat in prosthetic legs. But the Tipping Point host, 48, added to the awkward remarks, joking with the guest: "You'll be running up that hill in no time!"

Fans watching the show were baffled at the seemingly unknown comments. One viewer took to social media to write: "Did Charlotte just ask a boy with no legs if he now has 'a spring in his step'?".

Another user was also agreed with the hilarity of the presenters' remarks, sharing a clip of the interview. They captioned the video: "The lad is in a wheelchair, Ben. Pretty sure he isn't going to run up that hill."

A third fan said they loved Luke's positivity and innate humour, joking: "'Well, I mean I met him yesterday...' classic!" Other viewers also paid tribute to Luke and wished him well for his charity endeavours.
