Liverpool reportedly believe they are in with a chance to land Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, who is out of contract at the end of the season, this summer.
The last two summer transfer windows have seen the French forward embroiled in a transfer saga over a prospective move to Real Madrid, who will likely be the front runners to sign Mbappe this summer should he not renew his contract with PSG. Earlier this year, the Ligue 1 side even excluded Mbappe from travelling on their pre-season tour after he announced he would not renew his contract with PSG which is set to expire in June next year.
But, the 24-year-old, who was also subject to a bumper £259million bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal back in July, has since been reintegrated into Luis Enrique's plans. While the cost of signing Mbappe, even on a free, will likely be monstrous, never before has a player in his prime his the market as a free agent.

However, there are only a handful of sides who could really compete for his signature. And one of those teams who believe they might be able to bring Mbappe to the Premier League is Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool, who have been interested in signing the World Cup winner since 2017.
Reports from French publication L'Equipe claim Liverpool believe they are in with a chance of signing Mbappe, with the Reds having reportedly never broken contract with the player's entourage since their last attempt back in 2017. That summer, Mbappe moved to PSG from Monaco after helping them to win Ligue 1.

And any prospective move for Mbappe on Liverpool's behalf could spell an end to Mohammed Salah's storied career at Anfield. Since his arrival from Roma in 2017, Salah and Liverpool have won all there is to win.

While Salah's numbers have shown no sign of regression this term, with the Liverpool forward having scored 10 goals in 14 appearances so far this season, the Reds have spent a significant outlay on preparing for the future through the signings of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.
Of course, none of that quartet have come close to replicating Salah's goal scoring consistency for Liverpool, but by bringing in Mbappe, some of those concerns would be alleviated almost instantly.
