Manchester United stars reportedly reckon their poor start to the season and long injury list are due to being overworked.
After a positive 2022/23 campaign which saw Erik ten Hag’s side win the Carabao Cup, qualify for the Champions League and reach the FA Cup final, much was expected this term. However, it has been a damp squib to say the least, with United well off the pace in the Premier League, struggling in their Champions League group and already out of the Carabao Cup.
The squad has also suffered a catalogue of injuries, with Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro definitely out Saturday’s game against Everton. There are also doubts over Andre Onana, Aaron Wan-Bissake, Luke Shaw, Marus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund.

It is claimed several senior players believe their current struggles are down to being worked too hard during pre-season, reports The Guardian. They are said to have complained about feeling as fatigued at the start of this season as they did at the end of the previous campaign.
The report adds that the players in question have not aired their concerns to the manager directly. Ten Hag is said to have upped the intensity of training in a bid to make United title contenders, but the manager has repeatedly insisted he has a squad of committed players.

Ten Hag won’t be on the touchline for Saturday’s trip to Goodison as he serves a one-match touchline ban after collecting his third booking of the season during the 1-0 win over Luton before the international break.
Hojlund and Eriksen both limped off during that game to add to Ten Hag’s injury woes. The former’s injury is not thought to be too serious and he has an outside chance of being involved against Everton, but Eriksen is set to be out until the middle of next month at least.
