Shaun Ryder says his bits are too shrivelled to appear on a celebrity version of controversial show Naked Attraction.

There have been rumours the Channel 4 show, in which people strip before going on a date, is looking for stars to take part in a celebrity spin-off. But the Happy Mondays singer, 61, said if he was offered a part on the saucy programme he would have to turn it down.

Shaun added: “No way. You’re kidding. I mean look, if you’d have asked me in my twenties I’d have probably done it. But I ain’t going on a show like that at 61 with the f***ing shrivelled up f***ing things that I’ve got now. F*** that.

“And with my alopecia there’s no foliage around it, which would help as apparently if you get rid of all your pubes it makes it look bigger.” Shaun has reunited with rapper Kermit from his former nineties band Black Grape for a short tour of the UK this month.

It comes 25 years after their shock split and follows the release of their new album Orange Head. And the busy singer has also formed a supergroup caller Mantra of the Cosmos with members from the Happy Mondays and Brit rock band Ride.

The four-piece comprises Happy Mondays’ members Shaun Ryder and Bez as well as Andy Bell and drummer Zak Starkey, who has performed with the likes of The Who and Oasis, from Ride. But the former wild man said said these days he’d swapped his rock and roll lifestyle for watching episodes of of gentle sixties cop drama Heartbeat.

He added: “I’ve been doing press for Black Grape and Mantra and Mondays and then when I can I’ve been watching old series of Heartbeat. I love it.

“Because I’m promoting all the three at the same time I forget where I am. I’ve got to watch it or I’ll end up getting on stage and singing the wrong song with the wrong band.”
