The interior of a hugely popular UFO-shaped restaurant left to rot has been revealed.

Based in Katowice, near Lake Pogria in Poland, the Rose of the Winds restaurant was known worldwide for being shaped like an alien spacecraft.

But it was unceremoniously closed in 2008 because of safety concerns – but it was left to rot by the owners.

Having previously been located in Chorzow, and called Arizona, the interior was recently explored by urban explorer, Leeds-native Kyle Urbex.

Photos from the outside appear to show that an alien spacecraft has landed on the side of the lake.

But there were no signs of life on the craft as photos taken inside show the state of disrepair it has fallen into, with missing floorboards and dirty windows visible – making it pretty much impossible to repair to its former glory.

He said: “It's just been sat docked in the side of the lake rotting away, so it was a bit hazardous getting in.

“But once I was inside, it's fascinating and it makes you think just how amazing it must've been when it was open.

“I wanted to explore it because it's quirky, it's not something you see every day.”

In its heyday, the restaurant was a main attraction at tourist hotspot Park Śląski.

Not only did it float on the surface of the water, but its powerful engine meant it could be moved around the lake freely.

Photos from inside the abandoned building show the structure's control panel once used to move it on the water.

Beer cans and evidence of vandalism can also be seen.

Kyle visited Poland in May and spent much of his time exploring abandoned structures.

He said: “Once your inside it was a free for all, you don't know if the slides are going to give in. The best part for me was the view of the lake and the red slate roof tiles on the roof.

“It was a bit eerie being in there. Probably 99% of the time it's just me on my own. If somebody has a problem with you being there, it could be hard to get your across and explain what you're doing.”
